AGPResort guide
Which Costa del Sol resort is closest to the airport?
Torremolinos (~6 km) wins outright — but every major resort strings along one coastal corridor. Ranked distances and honest picks.
The short answer: Torremolinos, about 6 km from the terminal — close enough that you can be on the beach within half an hour of landing. The longer answer depends on what kind of holiday you want, because every resort on this coast sits along the same A-7 corridor west (or east) of the runway. Here are the real distances, nearest first.
Resorts ranked by distance from AGP
| Resort | Distance | Drive / taxi | Character |
|---|---|---|---|
| Torremolinos | ~6 km | 10–15 min | Closest resort · beaches & nightlife |
| Benalmádena | ~11 km | ~15 min | Marina & family beaches |
| Mijas (town) | ~15 km | ~20 min | Coastal town, quieter |
| Fuengirola | 19–26 km | 20–35 min | Long promenade & high street |
| Marbella | 39–50 km | 35–60 min | Upscale · old town & Puerto Banús |
| Nerja | 50–64 km | 45–55 min | East-coast classic · caves |
| Estepona | 64–85 km | 70–80 min | Garden of the Costa del Sol |
Distances and times are approximate — traffic on the A-7 motorway and your exact hotel location shift them. Verify current transfer times with your operator before booking tight connections.
The closest: Torremolinos
A proper resort in its own right, not just an airport suburb: long beaches, the Bajondillo and Carihuela strips for nightlife and fish restaurants, and the densest hotel zone this near the terminal. Around 10–15 minutes by taxi, it’s the default pick for late arrivals — and the transfer is the cheapest and simplest on the coast.
The closest quiet option: Benalmádena
One stop further on the C1 train (about 18 minutes from the airport): the marina for evening strolls, family beaches, and the old village up the hill for a slower pace. Around 11 km from AGP — barely farther than Torremolinos, noticeably calmer.
Family pick: Fuengirola
The biggest town on this stretch and the end of the C1 line (34 minutes): an 8 km promenade, a real high street, and Bioparc for kids. At 19–26 km / 20–35 minutes it suits longer stays and self-caterers who want a town, not just a resort.
Upscale pick: Marbella
The old town, the Golden Mile and Puerto Banús — the priciest end of the coast, 39–50 km and 35–60 minutes from AGP. No train: the Avanza coach takes about 45 minutes from the forecourt, or pre-book a fixed-price transfer and skip the meter anxiety.
East-coast pick: Nerja
In the other direction entirely: 50–64 km east, about 45–55 minutes by car. The caves, Burriana beach and a whitewashed old town that escaped the high-rise era. The bus link is slow (around 2.5 hours via Málaga), so drive or pre-book.
Getting there
The C1 train runs from directly opposite T3 arrivals to the city, Benalmádena and Fuengirola (€1.80–€2.70); Avanza coaches leave the forecourt for Marbella and Estepona; metered taxis queue at the rank. Compare all your options in our Málaga airport transfers guide.
